LaRose - Sister - 48x48 is an intricate and beautiful piece that is sure to brighten up any space. The black background of the piece really makes the colors pop, and the variety of strokes used creates a unique and eye-catching composition. There is definitely a lot to see in this piece, and it was definitely a joy to create. I hope that whoever ends up with this piece in their home enjoys it as much as I enjoyed making it.
One of the things that made my mom truly unique was her quirky sense of humor. Her one-word responses were legendary in our family - whether or not they made any sense! For example, when we asked her simple questions like "Mom, what's that?" she would simply respond "LaRose." We would oftentimes look at each other in confusion, wondering what on earth that word could possibly mean. But over time, we realized that it became more than just a word; it had become our own special code for almost anything that would not or could not be explained. It reminded us of the good times we shared with our mom, laughing and joking around together.
